Real Estate Business Strategy 2026: Why I’m Choosing Depth Over Width

As we close out the year, I’ve been spending a lot of time in reflection. I’ve been looking at what worked, what didn't, and most importantly, how we navigated the undeniable challenges this market threw at us.

If I had to boil down my entire year into a single, counter-intuitive lesson, it would be this:

Sometimes, you have to go backwards to finally move forward.

It’s a hard lesson to learn, especially for high-achievers who are used to constant forward momentum. In this short video, I share a bit more about this realization and how it’s shaping everything I’m planning for 2026.

The Temptation of "More"

When the market gets hard—and let’s be honest, this year was a grind—our natural instinct is to do more.

We operate out of fear. We think the solution to lower numbers is to cast a wider net. We chase "shiny objects"—the newest technology, the trendiest lead-gen strategy, or expanding into areas where we have no footing.

We confuse busyness with progress.

But what I realized this year is that spreading yourself thin isn't a strategy for growth; it's a recipe for burnout. When your attention is divided by ten new initiatives, you don't have the bandwidth to excel at the one thing that actually drives your business.

The 2025 Focus: Digging In

Real, sustainable growth doesn't come from width. It comes from depth.

If 2024 felt a bit like wandering in the wilderness, think of 2025 as the year we build the fortress. My entire focus for the coming year is Depth Over Width.

What does that mean practically?

  • Fewer Distractions: Saying "no" to good opportunities so we can say "yes" to the great ones.

  • Stronger Fundamentals: Returning to the basics that we know work and executing them flawlessly.

  • More Grit: Embracing the hard work of digging deep roots, rather than just looking for quick wins on the surface.

If you felt the weight of this market this year, know that you are not alone. But also know that the resistance we faced is exactly what is making us stronger for what’s next.

Let's stop chasing the horizon. Let’s go deep. Let’s grow together.
